Wee Jasper, Australia: Hie thee to Wee
Beside the waters of the Goodradigbee, at the foot of the Brindabellas, is the village of Wee Jasper. That's a lot of name poetry for the buck.
There's more to the area, though, than euphonics. This lovely spot, about an hour from Canberra, is a great place to go camping. The Wee Jasper Reserves has swimming, birdwatching, bushwalking, biking, fishing, horseback riding, all of which are enhanced by a gorgeous, unspoiled landscape.
Under no circumstances should you leave, though, without a visit to Carey's Cave. There are seven chambers with all kinds of rock surfaces and beautiful crystal formations.
Afterwards, head over for a beer to the The Stables Tavern from the 1880s (originally the police barracks). You can get a full meal and they have guest rooms, too.
